On this day—this very day, 17 years ago, I put the drugs down and got off the ground. It was the summer of 1990. Took my first sip at 13, first puff at 14, first sniff at 17 and I chased some form of a high until I was 31. Went from a class clown, most likely to succeed, to a barefoot crackhead begging for change in front of a store. A derelict. BUT on this day….11-10-08.
